CHICAGO SOCIETY
of the Polish National Alliance

One of the Most Progressive Polish American Organizations in the United States

HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

Founded in 1912, the Chicago Society is a progressive social organization of Polish American professionals, businessmen and civic leaders. Founded to foster the ideals of good fellowship, promote the welfare of the community and to advance the civic, social, economic and cultural development of the community, the Chicago Society engages to promote not only the success of its individual members in business and civic life, but provides assistance and leadership to many other outstanding organizations and charitable causes.

The Chicago Society PNA has maintained its position of progressive leadership and has served as a model for societies in other major metropolitan areas. The Chicago Society has served to found and support many other worthy organizations serving the community today. Among the organizations which can trace their origins to the Chicago Society are the Polish American Association (formerly the Polish Welfare Association) and the Polish Women's Civic Club (originally the Society's Women's Auxiliary).

The Chicago Society generally meets at various restaurants and banquet halls. In 2000, the organization used the funds from the sale of its clubhouse to establish the Chicago Society Foundation. Its first act was to make a substantial contribution to an exhibit of Polish astronomers at the Adler Planetarium.

The Chicago Society of the Polish National Alliance vigorously stimulates membership and offers its members support in their business, civic and professional efforts. Furthermore, the Chicago Society, PNA, welcomes members to participate in wholesome activities and social events provided for by the organization.

Annual social events include the Inaugural Ball, a Scholarship Golf Tournament, Sledz (Mardi Gras), Christmas Party, Picnic, and Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner. Other events, such as day tours and luncheons, are scheduled periodically.

A monthly newsletter, and now this website with a special area for members only, keeps the membership informed about activities and organizational news.
